Each one of your teeth is secured in the socket of your gums by the bone structure of your jaw and a series of small, yet strong periodontal ligaments. Unfortunately, there are incidents when a hard fall, blow to the face of other accident, can carry enough force to knock a tooth out of the socket.

Having a tooth knocked out is a serious cause for concern. Many people contact Renaissance Dental to get a better understanding of the process of restoring the knocked out tooth’s presence in their mouth with a dental implant.

The implant procedure is usually performed outpatient basis. Most people choose to be deeply sedated for their own comfort. This means you will need to arrange to have someone drive you and help you at home, while you’re recovering.

During the procedure a small incision will be made in your gums to gain direct access to your jawbone. A narrow channel is made in the bone and a titanium abutment is screwed into place. Titanium is known to be biologically safe and will eventually bone with the surrounding bone tissue in a process known as osseointegration.  Once your gums have healed and the implant has been integrated into the surrounding bone, an impression can be cast to mount a crown.

If you are interested in having a missing tooth replaced with a mini dental implant, we invite you to call Renaissance Dental in Owasso, Oklahoma at 918-272-0707 and schedule an appointment. We look forward to helping you maintain your healthy, confident smile!
